Psilodump - You Sick Little Monkey (X-Dump)

Previously here on Pheedbakk I reviewed the debut release of the new X-dump netlabel. Continuing with the quality X-dump 02 has arrived! This time we are presented with a mini-album from label founder Psilodump. All the tracks have a definite videogame feel, but this time there is a healthy dose of other influences that come into play for the total albums sound. Starting with the title track, we have whacked out pads interacting with porta scratch madness in a pixelized ensemble of insanity. Sick litttle monkey indeed. Things continue in this fashion, from the standard lobit Idm of 'Follow the Leaders', to the synthetic upbeat 'Senki Otus'. Which brings us to what is easily the best track on the record, 'Ninja Cookies' with it's barrage of over the top complex beat work that easily rivals the works of artists like Aphex or Squarepusher, and even some 'Ren & Stimpy' samples too boot! This track is the sickness, and really shows off Psilodumps programming genious. Included in the release are 3 nice remixes from the artists Pippilina, Dorthy's Magic Bag, and Lithis. More great brain fuckers from the X-dump crew.
